What did you do today

Planning is key. Right? Long-term. Short-term. Even, or maybe especially, if you get hit in the mouth…see last week:
http://weeklyramble.wunderman.com/index.php/weblog/more/mike_tyson/ Ever hear the expression – “What did you do for me today” or “We are only as good as our last idea”?

Clearly there is a dichotomy – and I’d argue – strongly in fact – that the dichotomy in question affects us professionally and no less…maybe even more, personally.

Somewhere along the line – if all we do is focus on planning – and short-term or long, it all implies future state – we run the risk of missing today.

What did you do for me today….what did you do for yourself today?

Listen:
“You pile up enough tomorrows and you’ll be left with nothing but a bunch of empty yesterdays. I don’t know about you, but I’d like to make today worth remembering.”
~Meredith Willson

I repeat – WHAT DID YOU DO FOR YOURSELF TODAY?

So….? What did you do?

  1. Nobody commented? OK.

Plans because without plans you could end up somewhere bad and unexpected. But plans need to be well made. They start from objectives (and constraints/resources/information/etc). Goodly done objectives at that.

What did I do for me? I made sure “me things” were included in the objectives. This even included time for reading and time for lunch.

Reality does not really know about my plans, so I still might have to fly by the seat of my pants. Tyson knows that (now).

    T.

  2. I really thank to one who wrote this article. I have always been reading and writing texts like this in blogs. Also, I, as a daily writer, present my respects to everyone. I just watched videos like this in youtube izle… I research in all areas..

I think people must first research before writing..
