How do we best judge innovation? Particularly technological innovation?
When I got a Walkman for my Bar Mitzvah, I spent hours trying to figure out where the Record button was hidden, and what combination of buttons would make the thing record. Who needs an MP3 player? My cellphone plays music, and lets me record.

If it really is a good innovation, I don't want to JUDGE it - I just want it! And so do all my friends... ...or at least those with the right sense of taste. If it's good, it sneaks in under the radar of the critic and lands at the top of the "must have" list. It just about sells itself. Maybe I will feel the same way the morning after. Tom.
